    Product Details

    Preformed Direct Burial Loops

Used for installations under concrete, asphalt, pavers, or in gravel roads. The most common installation is the loop tied directly to the rebar before concrete is poured. Wire is designed for a direct burial application.

Unlike loops wrapped through PVC, The BD Loops Direct Burial Loop does not have an air pocket resulting in fewer repeat service calls due to phantom detections and detector lock-up caused by ground vibration.

Our Direct Burial loops are build with Solid 16AWG to create a tough rigid product that won’t fall below the rebar pattern. Installing a BD Loops Direct Burial loop over rebar is a snap! Simply offset the loop from the rebar pattern and tie it down with the supplied cable ties.

The loop wire has arrows indicating the direction of current and lead-in is red/black allowing easy understanding of phasing.

Twisted jacketed lead-in prevents “coil back” from normal twisted lead-in, preventing wasted time untangling lead-in wires.

Each direct burial loop comes with an installation kit including easy to follow instructions, cable ties for installation on top of rebar, ground stakes for laying out the loop in gravel and dirt roads, and stickers for easy identification after the loops have been installed.

    Installing a loop under pavers?

If the sub-base is concrete or a slurry DO NOT use a Direct Burial loop. Saw-Cut in a BD Loops Saw-Cut Loop instead. Sandwiching wire between two hard surfaces will cause the loop to eventually fail.

What Size Loop do I need?

We have a variety of tools to help you determine the size and layout needed for your application:

BD Loops Loopalator – The free loop layout calculator. Simply input the driveway width and type of gate, and a diagram will be generated showing the placement and sizes of loops needed for your application.

Loop Size Chart - A quick reference size chart for the most common gate sizes.

Inductance Loops: Proper Placement and Size - An education editorial that offers in-depth explanations on how to determine the size and placement for any application.

    Recommended installation tips:

    • Offset the direct burial loop from the rebar pattern.
    • Always run the lead-in through conduit and glue the joint with a proper PVC solvent cement.
    • Run the lead-in in conduit underneath the rebar in a concrete pour.
    • Remove any ground stakes before burying the loop in a gravel or dirt road.
    • Fully encase the loop in sand when installing under pavers, or in a gravel road. (Show Encased in Sand Image)
    • Residential applications recommend a 4’ short leg of the loop.
    • Commercial application recommend a 6’ short leg of the loop.
