V-Groove Wheels are available in 4" or 6" heights and can be made out of plastic, cast iron, or steel. Cast iron wheels are the cheapest using a sleeve bearing and supplying a zirc fitting to keep the wheels greased. The cast iron wheels tend to break quickly, and are only about $25 cheaper than a good set of steel wheels, so they are a poor choice in the long run. Plastic wheels have a sealed bearing so no greasing is required, they are quieter in operation than the steel wheels, but they will not last as long or support as much weight. Steel wheels are the way to go, even the 4" size can support up to 3000 lbs per wheel. They have a sealed bearing on both sides of the wheel and do not need greasing. They are typically finished with a zinc coating to help prevent rust. Used correctly these wheels will last 5-10 years or more.
