Photo Eyes

Photo Eyes or Beams are “non-contact” devices that operate by shooting a beam of light across the gate opening. When wired up as an entrapment device interrupting the beam will stop the gate in its path and reverse the gate 1' towards the closed position. If used as a reversing device it will stop and reverse the gate all the way to the open position. Photo Eyes are approved for use as safety devices in compliance with UL325-2018 requirements. Photo beam switches are not typically used as an exiting device because they can be easily triggered by animals, children or inclement weather and could cause your gate to open at unwanted times. Photo Eyes come in two styles; Through Beam, which is a 2-piece unit consisting of a transmitter and a receiver and Retro-Reflective which combines the transmitter and receiver in one unit and "bounces" the beam back from a reflector.
